I got this stereo as a Christmas gift last year and if I had to rate between, poor excellent and brilliant, I would give it a excellent. CD is pretty excellent but the radio reception is something different. Have to hear majority of radio stations in Mono because the static with the FM is too loud. But the only annoying thing I cannot get rid of the AM type static of hearing stations in the background off. Have to reposition the antenna in 3 different places just to hear the radio. As far as the radio goes, I don’t recommend this product if you live in a Dorm but excellent for home room and apartment use if you live in an actual city. If you live further away a higher quality receiver maybe better. You won’t know if you try it first. I will admit its better than the portable radios I’ve reviewed but I honestly reckon the reception on this thing could be better. I’ve played with this antenna more than really listen to the radio. I wish radioes would stay with the “silver stick” antenna where all you had to do was turn of the stereo not like these wire antennas where you have to reposition constantly. Is anyone having issues with these wire antennas?
I got this stereo one christmas, and the speakers weren’t as powerful as I thought. I got some stereo system speakers and hooked them up in the available jacks it has in the back. The system really held up(which impressed me) and could take the sound produced by the speakers. Overall pretty excellent system, but if your not satisfied with the sound, do what I did.
Although it isn’t the highest quality, it’s a excellent deal for $30. Fantastic sound quality and the blue light is soothing.
